#Demand_Modeling_in_SAP_IBP
Three steps involved in setting up a Demand Model in SAP IBP are described in this modeling primer videos for Demand Planners.
Step 0 — General Settings surfaces the key configuration parameters: planning horizon, time profile, aggregation level, and key figure mapping — the foundation everything else depends on.
Step 1 — Pre-Processing now explicitly calls out the two highest-impact controls: outlier correction and missing data imputation, plus causal factor removal and intermittent demand detection.
Step 2 — Model Selection expands the original into a proper model library view — Exponential Smoothing (including Holt-Winters triple), ARIMA/ARIMAX, Croston for intermittent demand, Moving Average, Linear Regression, and the Best Fit auto-selector.
Step 3 — Post-Processing breaks out RMSE vs. WMAPE with a practical distinction: RMSE for volume-sensitive items where large misses are costly; WMAPE for portfolio-level scorecards where scale-independence matters across SKUs.
